252 Awards

Canterbury Archers encourages its new and returning members to develop their archery skills through the 252 Achievement Awards using imperial distances from 20 to 60 yards. The scheme builds on the 36 arrows of the AGB Progress Awards while encouraging archers to tackle some of the higher distances needed for classifications and handicaps.

The 252 Achievement Awards are open to all of the club’s archers who submit TWO qualifying scores according to the following rules:

  • shooting may be indoors (for 20 yards only) or outdoors (for all distances);

  • the archer must shoot 36 arrows in ends of 6 arrows;

  • a maximum of 6 ‘sighter’ arrows are allowed per session;

  • a club scoresheet must be completed accurately with results. The scoresheet needs to give the archer’s first name, surname, the distance shot and the date. Scores, hits and golds must be recorded and totalled, with the scoresheet agreed and countersigned by an experienced (adult) club member;

  • to claim awards, archers must achieve the scores shown in the following table where scoring requirements vary according to bow style and distance:
